BPL: Rain washes out Sylhet-Barishal match without a ball being bowled

The BPL match between Sylhet Sunrisers and Fortune Barishal was abandoned due to incessant rain in Dhaka. It was finally called off at 3.50 pm.

Both teams had arrived at the Shere Bangla National Stadium and even got out to do a bit of warm-up, but shortly before the toss, it began to rain.

Sylhet had lost four of their five matches before Friday and are placed at the bottom of the table with three points from six matches.

Barishal, meanwhile, would rue these two points after finding the rhythm in recent matches in Chattogram. Barishal now lead the table with nine points from seven matches. Captain Shakib Al Hasan has been on fire for them, starring with allround performances in two consecutive matches against Khulna, in Chattogram last week.

The BPL will take a break for the next two days, before resuming in Sylhet for the first time this season. Sylhet will have three matchdays before the competition returns to Dhaka. The final will be on February 18.

Meanwhile, the forecast isn't encouraging for Friday's evening match as well, between Minister Group Dhaka and Comilla Victorians, as there's likely to be more rain.
