Byron On Pole For Second Charlotte Cup Race

CONCORD, N.C. – A late-race spin in Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway cost William Byron a solid finish, but there was one small silver lining.

As a result of Byron’s 20th place finish and an invert of the top-20 finishers, Byron will lead the NASCAR Cup Series field to the green flag during Wednesday’s Alsco Uniforms 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s 1.5-mile oval.

Just like the second race at Darlington Raceway last week, the top-20 finishers from the Coca-Cola 600 were inverted to determine the starting lineup for Wednesday’s race.

Joining Byron on the front row for Wednesday’s 500-kilometer race will be his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Alex Bowman. Bowman led the most laps in Sunday’s Coca-Cola 600 before ultimately finishing 19th.

Michael McDowell will start third, followed by Matt DiBenedetto, John Hunter Nemechek, Aric Almirola, Austin Dillon, Joey Logano, Cole Custer and Erik Jones.
