Source: Ten Hag to deal with Garnacho social likes

Manchester United are content that Alejandro Garnacho has backed away from a potential row with Erik ten Hag after appearing to like social media posts criticising his manager but, according to a source, the forward's actions will still be dealt with by the Dutchman.

Social media criticism of Ten Hag's assessment of Garnacho's performance in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Saturday was liked by the Argentina international's account.

A source has told ESPN that Garnacho showed contrition by quickly unliking the posts, while a club source said that any further action taken against the 19-year-old is considered "an internal matter."

Garnacho was substituted at half-time against Bournemouth after giving the ball away in the build-up to Dominic Solanke's opening goal. Bournemouth's second goal, scored by Justin Kluivert, also came down United's right side.

Asked after the game why he replaced Garnacho at half-time, Ten Hag said: "I think we had to repair over that right side.

"We didn't play well, the spaces were there in possession, we had to bring a sub there."

Ten Hag also suggested Garnacho was not fully fit before being picked to start.

He said: "Garnacho was not training during the week, only yesterday [Friday]. "We thought to bring some energy, bring some more quality, quality in the sense of cooperation, togetherness over that right side."

Ten Hag has had run-ins with other first-team players this season, including Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

Rashford was disciplined in January for missing training following a trip to a Belfast nightclub.

Sancho, meanwhile, was allowed to join former club Borussia Dortmund on loan during the January transfer window after accusing Ten Hag of lying about the reasons behind his omission from the squad for a game against Arsenal in September.

Unlike Garnacho, Sancho refused to back down and was ordered to train alone for four months until his temporary move to Dortmund was confirmed.
