Trent Perry, a McDonald's All American and the No. 26 prospect in the 2024 class, is decommitting from USC in light of its coaching change, he told ESPN.

Former USC head coach Andy Enfield recently elected to depart for SMU, a move that was officially announced Monday. USC has not yet selected his replacement.

Perry, the Gatorade Player of the Year in California and two-time CIF open division state champion at Harvard-Westlake, is a 6-foot-4 point guard who originally picked USC over others including Stanford, Gonzaga, Oregon, Colorado and TCU.

"I was eager to start my college career as a Trojan," Perry said in a statement sent to ESPN. "However with the recent news, I will be requesting a release and reopening my recruitment. I am going to take this time to decide which school makes the most sense for me next year while maintaining USC as an option."

Perry told ESPN he will be "starting fresh" with his recruitment moving forward, "while utilizing the relationships I already built."

Perry is one of 24 high school seniors competing in the prestigious McDonald's All American Game, taking place at the Toyota Center in Houston on Tuesday night (ESPN, 9 p.m. ET). He becomes the second-highest-ranked prospect available after Liam McNeeley, who recently decommitted from Indiana.
