Toss Pakistan chose to bat vs New Zealand

Babar Azam opted to bat in the series decider against New Zealand. This, after choosing to bowl in the opening game, which Pakistan had won.

While the visitors remained unchanged after leveling the series two days back, the hosts made two changes from the side that lost: vice-captain Shan Masood finally found a place in the XI, replacing opener Imam-ul-Haq, while right-arm quick Mohammad Hasnain came in place of Naseem Shah in a like-for-like switch.

Masood had been named deputy ahead of the series despite having played only five ODIs till date, the last of which came in March 2019. He averages only 22.20 from those matches, but has now returned to the national side across formats after making his T20I debut against England last September, as well as making a comeback to Test side against the same opposition in December.

Hasnain, too, will be playing an ODI after nearly two years, having so far bagged 12 wickets in eight games at an average of 37.91.

The third ODI against New Zealand concludes Pakistan's lengthy home season, where they lost the T20I and the Test series to England, before drawing the Tests 0-0 against New Zealand. While Pakistan had won the first ODI of the current series by six wickets, New Zealand hit back to win by 79 runs in the second match.

Pakistan: 1 Fakhar Zaman, 2 Shan Masood, 3 Babar Azam (capt), 4 Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 5 Haris Sohail, 6 Agha Salman, 7 Mohammad Nawaz, 8 Usama Mir, 9 Mohammad Wasim, 10 Mohammad Hasnain, 11 Haris Rauf

New Zealand: 1 Finn Allen, 2 Devon Conway, 3 Kane Williamson (capt), 4 Daryl Mitchell, 5 Tom Latham (wk), 6 Glenn Phillips, 7 Michael Bracewell, 8 Mitchell Santner, 9 Ish Sodhi, 10 Tim Southee, 11 Lockie Ferguson
