Speedball was developed in the 60's
by Mr. Lotfy as a warm up & practice exercise for tennis players
in Egypt. Its popularity spread throughout Europe, Canada & the U.S.A
especially after the establishment in 86 of the National Speedball
Federations in Egypt, France, Japan, Austria & followed by the Speedball
International Federation.
The U.S.A, Switzerland as well as other national
Federations were founded in the 90's.
Since 1986 the International
Speedball Championships are held every year in one of the countries
member of the Speedball International Federation.
Speedball is played by
one player
(solo ), by two players (one against one ), or four players (two against two ).
The solo player is the unique feature of Speedball
as the solo player plays against the clock in four variations, one
racket right hand, one racket left hand, two rackets forehand, & two
rackets backhand.
The special
design of the oval ball enables it to travel at speeds nearing 120 mph.
The one piece rubber ball is attached to a 5 foot long monofilament
nylon cord fastened to a ring which rotates freely around a spool.
The relatively small place requirements of a speedball court make it
ideal for indoor , outdoor as well as beach grounds.

The Speedball Federation
of the United State was found in June 1990.
It was formed
by the players and for the players as the official governing body and
directs the sport to grow in both social and/or competitive playing.
SFU helps set standards in tournament and league play, official
rules, ball and equipment availability and design.
Our goal is to standardize rules, provide general information, and list
play locations, in the United States.
